Working Definition:

A communication situation occurs when two or more persons signify through expressions. This can occur in a particular place at a particular time or when the persons are at a distance from each other in particular places and at particular times. In either case, contact must be made by both parties through the expressions.

Disciplinary Definitions:

Communication situations can be described with respect to the arrangements of its components: encoding, discourse, re-coding, context of experience, and cognitive frameworks.

Comments:

Intra-personal communication is a special situation in which one persona communicates with another persona of the same individual.
