Communicating — Cognitive Science
|
"Communicating — Cognitive Science" is an annex to the Society for Conceptual Logistics in Communication Research (SCLCR). It contains materials that are either works in progress intended to be posted on the SCLCR website or papers and notes related to the site mostly drawn from its predecessor website, Commuinication as a Cognitive Science, which is now dismantled as much of its content is being transferred to the SCLCR site. All of the materials on this site are copyrighted but are free to be downloaded providing that an acknowledgement of authorship is made to James J. Sosnoski, Emeritus Professor of Communication at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The C-CS web site was originally designed as a "database" structured as a reference work on issues related to Communication and Cognitive Science. Its "chapters" were designed be read consecutively. Each page was a self-contained essay on a particular topic, arranged as a sequence of arguments. The site was designed so that the basic argument can be tracked in the abstracts for each entry. The table of contents for an entry allowed users to go into more detail on each topic. Links to appendices provided extended discussions of the topics. Links to illustrations and examples provided clarifications of particular statements or arguments. Links to discussions of concepts werere also provided. The site also includes various Configural Discourse Analyses which are based on recent developments in Cognitive Linguistics.
